To enable us to process your claim in line with these objectives please ensure that, prior to completing your claim form, you have read the below.

When to advise Sterling?

Please advise us as soon as you are aware of a circumstance which could result in a claim. This could be immediately after a third party has:

  • suffered property damage;
  • suffered a personal injury; or,
  • alleged, either in writing or otherwise, that you are responsible for their personal injury or property damage.

How to advise Sterling?

You can notify Sterling via this website, by mail, fax, or e-mail. The notification will need to contain:

  • the insured’s name;
  • the policy number;
  • brief details of the circumstances surrounding the claim/loss;
  • all correspondence from any third party; and
  • any other relevant information.

We will generally require a Claim Form to be completed, and a form is available under Downloads.

Why notify Sterling?

Our goal is to ensure that the matter can be handled effectively. Effective loss and claims management ensures that:

  • the loss is minimized;
  • claim/loss settlements are fair; and

the claims settlement process is prompt.

Also, it is very important to remember that the policy may not respond if the underwriter has been prejudiced by a late notification of a claim or loss.
